He was a veteran of World War II, a member of American Legion Merrian-Skidmore Post 585, St, Benedict the Moor Catholic Church and Knights of Peter Claver Council 23. RICHARD, BART Bart "Tont" N. Richard, 22, a native of Napoleonville and resident of Labadieville, died April 21, 2003.

Visitation will be from 8:30 to 1 1 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Napoleonville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 1 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery.

He is survived by his grandmothers, Joyceline and Thelma Richard; parents, Bruce and Elaine Richard; brothers. Heath and Jarrod Richard; and sister, Tonya Himel. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Clay Pay and Murphy P. Richard. He worked for Petroleum Services at C.F.

Industries. Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ROSS, ALBERT Albert "Manee" "Slow" Ross, 57, a native and resident of Napoleonville, died April 22, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday at St. Paul Baptist Church in Napoleonville. A religious service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Audrey H.

Ross of Houma; daughters, Diona and Darlene Ross of Houma, Demetria Holly of Thibodaux, Brandy O'Quin of Napoleonville and Tomorrow O'Quin of Baton Rouge; son, Leroy O'Quin; sister, Hester R. Holly of Napoleonville; brother Calvin Ross of Napoleonville; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Edna Ross; former companions, Marion O'Quin and Castine; son, Albert Ross sisters, Victoria Hall and Alma Ross; brother, Lawrence Ross; and grandson, Darnell Ross. She was a former member of the Ladies Altar Society. Her hobbies were cooking and bingo. Friday, April 25, 2003. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Landry's Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Folorence "Flo" David; one daughter, Carol D. Landry; one grandson, Kevin Landry; and one granddaughter, Kelli Landry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur David Sr.

and Noemie Vicknair David; three brothers, Roger David, Arthur David Jr. and Teles David; one half-brother, Wallace David; one sister, Eugenie D. Foret; and one half-sister, Aline D. Lasseigne. Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

DOMINGUE, ALPHONSE JOSEPH "A.J." A retired self-employed electrical contractor and a resident of Pierre Part, he died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, in Thibodaux. He was 67 and a native of Paincourtville. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Visiting at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Pierre Part, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday, celebrated by the Rev. George Burden.

Entombment in church mausoleum. Survived by his wife, Gonellie Sedotal Domingue, Pierre Part; a daughter and son-in-law. Vincent. Preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Domingue and Philomene Daigle Domingue Rodrigue; stepmother, Eva Domingue; a grandson, Zachary Domingue; and a half-brother, Gary Rodrigue. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. DUGAS, LOUIS J. "LJ" A resident of Napoleonville, he died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at 10:20 p.m.

He was 68, born Feb. 10, 1935. Visitation at Assumption Catholic Church, Plattenville, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Interment in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Paincourtville. Survived by his wife, Joel Ann Marks Dugas of Napoleonville; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Karen Dugas of Baton Rouge and Joey and Diane Dugas of. Napoleonville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Miriam Dugas, Decatur, and Lynn and Travis Daigle, Napoleonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Diane Dugas of Pierre Part; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry and Aimee Marks of Pierre Part, and Julene Marks, Niceville, and three grandchildren, Beth Dugas, Chelsea Daigle and Travis "T.J," Daigle II. Preceded in death by his parents, Louis J.

Dugas and Linda Landry Dugas; a brother-in-law, John Boyd Marks; and in-laws, Boyd and Lena Marks. He retired with 40 years of service from Dugas LeBlanc and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Landry's Funeral Home Inc. in charge of arrangements.

LANDRY, BLANCHE HEBERT "BILLIE" Died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Sherwood Manor. She was 73, born Aug. 10, 1929, in Brusly St. Martin and was a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida from 5 p.m.

Survived by two daughters, Missy Landry of Baton Rouge and Mona Waguespack of Greenwell Springs; a son-in-law, Sidney Waguespack; three grandsons, Daniel James Waguespack, Justin Andrew Waguespack and Stephen Matthew Waguespack; four sisters, Marie Vaccaro of Ethel, Bea Kerek of Albany, Lanny Schatzle of Wadesboro and Gerry Coupel of Brusly St. Martin; and a brother, Lawrence Hebert of Bayou Blue.

Preceded in death by her husband, Arlen Landry; and parents, Andre and Odile Hebert. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. MITCHELL, VIRGINIA Virginia "Dirty Sally" Ann Mitchell, 44, a native of Gloster, and resident of Napoleonville, died April 13, 2003. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m.

Friday at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville. A religious service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. She is survived by her mother, Catherine Mitchell; sons, Ricardo and Corey Johnson; and devoted friend, Kenneth Fair. She was preceded in death by her foster parents.

A religious service will be held at 1 1 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery. She is survived by her son, Lucas Johnson; granddaughter, Wanda Edmund of Los Angeles, Calif; grandsons, William P. Johnson and Lawrence Edmund, both of Los Angeles; and friends, Irma Duplantis and the Joseph and Vickie Harrison family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Monroe; daughter, Mary Edmund; parents, Harrison and Dora Wise Hubbard; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Barbara Matthews, Tucson, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Costanza, Independence, and Tallie and Paul Brewerton, Baton Rouge; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Nolan and Margaret LeBlanc and Paul and Felicia, all of Port Allen; two grandchildren, Debbie and Lee Herbert and Leah and Michael Friedenberg; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Herbert. Preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Matthews; second husband, Murry Albarado; parents, Felix and Bernadette LeBlanc; and two brothers, Noble and Jade LeBlanc. She was a member of the Community Worship Center.

ALBERES EDWARD ANTHONY "E.A." A salesman for Halpins Carpet and a resident of Pierre Part, he died at 5:11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003, in Donaldsonville. He was 38 and a native of Donaldsonville. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

CLAUSE, JOSEPH Joseph "Joey" Matthew Clause, 5 months, a native of Houma and resident of Labadieville, died at 4:51 p.m. April 21, 2003. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Landry's Funeral Home in Labadieville and from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St.

Philomena Catholic Church in Labadieville. He is survived by his parents, Richard Jr. and Bonnie Russo Clause; brother, Robert Michael Clause; grandparents, Richard Sr. and Gail Talbot Clause; and John Jr. and Donna Scales Russo.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Herman "Pete" Clause; and great-great-grandmother, Stella Hotard Billiot. He was affected with spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic disorder. Donations to The Families of SMA in Joseph's name are preferred. Plants are preferred in lieu of flowers. Landry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CROCHET, EDITH HEBERT "DEE DEET" A homemaker and native and resident of Pierre Part, she died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003, in Pierre Part. She was 83. Visiting at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Pierre Part, from 8 a.m.

Monday until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Matt Dupre. Entombment in church mausoleum. Survived by three daughters, Roberta Crochet, Lee Anna Crochet and Grace Crochet, all of Pierre Part; two sisters, Azelda Daigle, Belle River, and Gertie Pipsair, Pierre Part; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death Star Baptist Church to host fellowship program The Star Baptist Association will be having a fellowship program at the Dularge Community Baptist Church.

It is pastored by the Rev. Gilbert Parker, at 153 Dularge Road, in Houma, Louisiana. The speaker will be the Rev. Fred Trosclair. He is pastor of the Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Chauvain, Louisiana.

Louisiana State Conference Meeting On April 26, 2003, the NAACP held its state conference meeting in Baton Rouge at the State Capitol Building at which began at 8:30 AM. Some items on the agenda were unit's compliance, education call to action plan, National Housing Trust Fund, and legislative agenda. In attendance was Edward Albert sargeant-at-arms, Moses Hirsh Treasurer and Spergeon Holly A special meeting will be held on Monday, May 5.
